Mark Giddens returned with his young family to settle in his home region and founded Gippsland360 in early 2019.
Before returning to Australia, Mark worked extensively in hostile and hazardous environments. In his 20 years working abroad he covered numerous war zones including Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Southern Thailand and Afghanistan and was one of the few foreign journalists in Afghanistan on 9/11 where he remained for 3 years working with Europe’s largest broadcaster (ZDF German TV).
Mark has covered some of Asia’s most notable natural disasters including the 2004 Christmas Day tsunami in Aceh, the 2011 Japan tsunami and in 2013, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Each of these events required navigating difficult logistics, dangerous travel circumstances while managing supply restrictions and the secure deployment of equipment.
Mark’s background is impressive, working across a broad range of industries and filming projects for global clients. At the beginning of 2020, Mark worked on important local projects covering the East Gippsland fires and produced a documentary on the recovery of NSW communities affected by the fires.
With a solid industry reputation, Mark accepts commercial work both nationally and internationally but he can now also bring his years of experience to the Gippsland community.
Mark helps NFP and businesses in regional Victoria share their passion through his experience in visual storytelling through drone and video media.
